OUR STORY

We believe the finest homes in America were built around the turn of the 19th to the 20th Centuries.  These homes were built by true craftsmen, who often signed their work upon completion.  These homes were conceived, designed and hand drawn by architects steeped in the aesthetics of the Craftsman Movement, Colonial Revival, Tudor and Bungalow style homes.  

 

We believe that, because of the care, attention to detail, craftsmanship and classical architecture, these homes have a soul and deserve to be restored to as close to the vision of the architect as possible

 

We also believe that many of the features of these vintage homes do not translate well to our modern lifestyles.  Most specifically small kitchens, lack of closet space, laundry in the basement and less than adequate bathroom space.

 

With this in mind we restore homes with the feel and charm inspired by the original architect but we also make every effort to enlarge kitchens, bring the laundry to the upper floors, create a master suite with walk in closet and Master bath.  Wherever possible we disasemble, restore and replace all vintage door knobs and hinges throughout the home.

 

We also update plumbing systems and remove all visible antiquated knob and tube wiring in the house.

 

We make frequent use of carrara marble, mosaic,hexagonal tile, subway tile, widespread faucets and vintage style lighting.

 

When we painstakingly restore your home you are getting the best of both worlds - The feel and charm of a turn of the century home with the modern conveniences of a brand new home.
